Slow and Conscious Living: The Discovery

Picture this – a bustling city, one that has been home to you for over a decade. A city that has given you everything, where the heartbeat of success, progress, and happiness echoes in every footstep.

But, one day, an epiphany unfolds – the allure of this city may lead me to a hospital bed, courtesy of the toll exacted by pervasive pollution.

Vivek, founder, wearing a mask to save himself from Delhi pollution

Delhi is that city, and it was in November 2019 that I had to get a mask to save myself from the pollution. And that is when I decided to move to where I am originally from - Kerala. My heart broke into a million pieces. It almost felt like betraying Delhi. Still does. What transpired in the consequent months led to the birth of Antaratma. By March 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic hit the world so hard, and India went into a complete lockdown.

The world as we knew it ceased to exist. A new form of living came into being. I navigated it, all alone, and spent 82 days in my Noida apartment.

Being a single child to working parents, I have been okay with isolation since childhood. In fact, as an introvert, I consider those 82 days the best days of my life. It granted me ample time for introspection and ideation.

As the world fought in unison against a deadly disease, I envisioned Antaratma—not merely as a fashion label but as a vessel for profound ideals—a poignant answer to the seldom spoken yearning for a more purposeful way of life.

Discovery of Conscious Living:

The journey began with the idea of Conscious Living, a philosophy that transcends mere lifestyle choices.

I was in McLeod Ganj in the heart of nature, years ago, when this thought struck me the first time. Surrounded by ancient trees whispering tales of resilience, I pondered on the impact of our actions on the planet and our fellow beings.

In those serene moments, I discovered the profound interconnectedness of life. Every choice, every action, echoed through the intricate web of existence. I remember promising myself that someday, whenever possible, I would try to build a brand that has ‘consciousness’ at its very core.

Years later, I revisited the idea I had buried deep within me, thinking I wouldn’t have a chance to explore it.

The birth of Antaratma marked a commitment to elevate consciousness – to tread lightly upon Earth and nurture a community that echoes this sentiment.

What is Conscious Living?

Conscious Living is a profound way of engaging with the world. It is an awareness that extends beyond individual choices, reaching into the very essence of existence.

It's the acknowledgment that every choice, every action, contributes to the delicate balance of our shared existence.

In essence, Conscious Living is an ongoing journey. It involves making choices that align with the interconnectedness of life, fostering a deep respect for our planet and fellow beings.

Antaratma stands as a testament to this commitment, inviting individuals to embrace a lifestyle that transcends the boundaries of fashion and extends into a conscious, harmonious way of being.

Slow Living Unveiled:

The second revelation came in the form of Slow Living - a dance with time where moments are not lost but savoured. This concept unfolded within me during a solo journey through Himachal Pradesh, a soul-searching adventure where every step carried the weight of introspection.

Possibly, for the first time, travel failed to soothe my mind. Despite moving from one place to another in pursuit of peace, restlessness clung to me. An unrest within me. While driving, vivid images played in my mind - of me, running amok, seeking an elusive calmness.

As I drove from Tirthan Valley to Jibhi, an internal whisper urged me to halt and step out of the car. For more than an hour, I simply sat there in silence. No glances at my phone, no tunes playing in the background—just an open road, towering trees, sunlight streaming through the leaves, and a heavenly breeze that enveloped me.

I understood the charm of taking it slow. Spending an hour in nature's lap, like a form of meditation, spoke to me deeply. It gave me a new perspective on the concept of time. Giving all that you love – people and processes – time, focus, and undivided attention will result in a more fulfilling, meaningful experience.

Slow Living became a personal manifesto, an intentional act of rebellion against the frenzied pace of the world. Antaratma, in its essence, became a haven where time slows down, and each creation is a testament to deliberate, mindful existence.

Antaratma's Birth:

Antaratma, like I said earlier, emerged not merely as a fashion brand but as a vessel for these profound ideologies. Conscious Living and Slow Living are like two peas in a pod. These intertwined ideologies complement each other so seamlessly that having just one wouldn't fully embrace the broader purpose.

The fabrics we choose, the designs we craft – all ripple with the energy of Conscious and Slow Living. As the founder, I see Antaratma as more than garments; it's a canvas where stories of mindful living are woven into every thread.

Our designs mirror the simplicity found in Slow Living, inviting wearers to experience each moment consciously.

Antaratma seeks to build not just a brand but a community that resonates with the melody of a consciously led, slow-paced life.

As you delve into this world of Antaratma, I sincerely wish you feel the heartbeat of Conscious and Slow Living, echoing a profound truth – life is not a rush; it's a dance, and each step deserves to be savoured.
